My mom is talking to my sister about a recent relationship snafu while my dad, my other sister and I listen:

Mom: So you had LQ?
Us: WHAT?!
Mom: Love Quarrel … duh!

… later …

Mom: So, it was an MU?
Us: A who?!
Mom: Mutual Understanding!!

    Definitely filipino – most likely generational. In the old days to say that you were dating someone but were not yet official, you would say you had an “MU” with that person. If you were sad, it was common to be asked, “LQ”?
