Mom: Where are you going?
me: Oh, I’m going to meet up with friends in Hollywood.
Mom: You’re not going to a bar, are you?
me: Um, bye mom, I’m late now, gotta go.
Mom: Remember you need to sell your car at a Bar! Bars are for bad people. You’ll only get bad people buying. You should always go to right Market…NEVER sell your car in a junk yard!

    WHAT?

It's about the importance of context when meeting new people and “offering yourself up”: people in a junkyard have low regard for cars because they deal in junk and are used to paying “junk prices” for whatever is brought in; essentially they can't respect what you're “selling” because they have no experience in doing so. Going to a used car place when you have a used car to sell would at least get you on par with what you're selling. Selling some a sweet vintage or high performance vehicle, well, that's like going out on a date with an expected $100+/person dinner, and in such scenarios both people are presumably worth it. It's a strange phrase with a complex hook in it. I like.
