Fee vs. Free

Posted on July 6, 2009 at 10:22pm

So about 10 minutes ago my mom got a notice from Sam’s club for the bill and she was so excited. I have never seen her so excited about a bill before. So I was curious and I looked over and saw a late fee for almost 125 dollars!

Me: Mom! Why didn’t you pay the bill!
Mom: Sam clup give me the free money!
Me: No, you have to PAY or else that fee will get higher.
Mom: What? I thought the late free?
Me: No FREE has an R, FEE means you have to pay.

    i'm not sure how real this post is. it has way more to do with practicality than language differences. i mean seriously...she thought that a "late free" meant free money?....
  • I don't know how good your mother is at English, but mine (who has now lived in the US for 23 years) very well might make this mistake... lol

    That's really funny yet sad about the fee ^^;;

    way to turn a happy dream into a living nightmare D:

    What did she buy for her to accumulate 125 dollar fine?!
