And they do come in all kinds of patterns. I came across them at a little market in Chengdu and got given two pairs: one in black on white polka dots with lace edges and another edgy looking pair in blue, red and white paint splashes!! UVB is the more famous culprit one in both accounts. Whether UVA is carcinogenic is controversial but it is most certainly tan-inducing (most sun-tanning salons use primarily UVA irradiation). I don't know how much UV light can be filtered by glass, but "filtering" of any kind is more effective against high-energy light. UVB is higher enery than UVA so you'd expect, if anything, that UVA would be the one to penetrate the glass.<br><br>Also, melanin is the pigment; melatonin is the sleeping chemical.<br><br>Always gotta practice safe UV practices!<br><br>More on topic: My mother does the same thing!!
