Coupon Clipping Fail

Posted on December 16, 2009 at 11:21am

I went home this past weekend to visit my parents.  My mom told me she cut some coupons this week for us to use for grocery shopping. Turns out they’re not coupons, just advertisements.  Thanks for trying, Mom!

    That is so sweet of her, though. It made me smile.

    Coupons can save a lot of money in this time of crisis. Companies offer discounts because they need to attract customers and customers need discounts because they can't spend as much as before. It is a mutual interest so take advantage of coupon codes, discounts and other deals.

    Easy Saver Complaints

    The most coupon-enthusiastic person I've ever met was my college advisor, a Swiss engineering professor. He thought they were the best thing in the world!

    This is my posting. I had to kindly explain to my mom that the coupons were within the dotted lines. She laughed and told me it's tough when for people don't understand English. :)
  • My mom does this on a regular basis, but not because she thinks they're coupons. It's usually because she's already cutting coupons and figures she might as well cut out anything else she's going to buy as a reminder. Stapled together, it's an easy shopping list. It actually makes a lot of sense.

    My mom does that, too! Esp. at Walgreens. It drives me nuts when I have to do the shopping, though :)
  • Who wouldn't like to save money when they go grocery shopping? The good news is, it's not as hard as you may think. It's heard some people say that clipping coupons takes time. Personally, I think it's worth my time to save the amount of money I do. Also, keep in mind that like everything, the more you do it the easier it becomes. After a while you'll work out a system that is right for you and it will become less and less time consuming.

    Those aren't coupons, though. They're just notices that things are on sale. No need to clip them.

    FYI = I clicked on "Arson's" link and was taken to a coupon site of some sort. I had a feeling it was bogus.
  • Speaking as a student of FOB behavior, I can tell you that:

    1. This is standard FOB coupon confusion;

    2. A great way to make sure you get the right item if your engrish is not so good.
