Just a slight Facebook misunderstanding:

I'd hate to be that guy, but I've noticed a lot of the posts lately have been more about technology shortcomings than hardcore fobby behaviors. That's just an old-person thing. Even a 17th-generation-American–that had relatives on the Mayflower–may not know the difference between Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, if they're over the age of, say, 32.

I know Asians have high expectations from people (including their parents) about technology, math, and cutesy Sanrio creatures, but I'm sorry to say: not knowing about technology isn't fobby. It's just old.

It's not like they're saying “Cock” instead of “Coke.” Now, THAT'S fobby!

I disagree. Fobbiness can be defined as an unfamiliarity with Western culture. As Facebook is a part of this culture, failure to understand how it works can definitely be classified as fobby.

I disagree with your disagreement. There are millions (if not billions) of people using Facebook in Asia. I don't think you can fairly characterize Facebook (or any other social networking, online chatting, or technology for that matter) as part of Western culture. It's a global phenomenon–one that the fobbiest Asians are familiar with, and sometimes addicted to.

This just proves this a case of old-people-technology-shortcomings and not fobby behavior.

(Sorry for the re-post, misplaced the other)
